NiRA’ S MOVE FOR PARTNERSHIPS AND COLLABORATION

The Nigeria Internet Registration Association has increased efforts to partner with critical stakeholders within the Nigerian economy, to achieve the desired goal of increasing public awareness of the .ng domain name. Such collaborations are critical to the sustainability of NiRA’s growth and the increase in the adoption of .ng. Partnering organisations already have goals for which their partnership with NiRA would be of immense benefit. One of such partnerships is in the pipeline with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), to provide access to a free .ng domain name for one year for newly registered companies. To actualise this, NiRA has commenced preliminary discussions with the CAC, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), and other key stakeholders. NiRA Accredited Registrars are a critical stakeholder in the success of these efforts and NiRA has increased focus on meeting with Accredited Registrars, to better understand business models for proper positioning. Other prospective partner organisations such as the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (SMEDAN), and the Nigerian Medical Association have also hosted NiRA in much-needed discussions.

It is hoped that as discussions progress, other important collaborative successes will be recorded. NiRA is grateful to the organisations mentioned above for their willingness to partner.
