Mr. Lawrence Olawale-Roberts was elected as a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) on the 30th of April 2019.  Mr. Lawrence Olawale-Roberts is the Managing Director & CEO of MicroBoss, a premier technology consulting firm, aiming at becoming one of the largest and leading technology services companies globally, with its headquarters in Abuja and servicing top brands like Nigeria’s Central Bank.

In recognition of his service on the Nominating Committee (NomCom) of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), where he had served for many years, the ICANN Board of Directors recognized Mr. Lawrence Olawale-Roberts during ICANN's 22nd Annual General Meeting on Thursday, 22 October 2020. It was a moment of great pride for the Nigerian Internet Community, in fact the African Community. Due to the challenges associated with the covid-19 pandemic, the event was streamlined online via Zoom Platform.

The name of Mr. Olawale-Roberts was read out as he received the recognition with a formal ICANN Board resolution and his photograph was displayed on the screen in the Zoom room upon announcement of his name. The NiRA Board and the Nigerian Internet Community were present at the virtual event, to recognize, acknowledge and pay homage to one of its own. We say congratulations to Mr. Lawrence Olawale-Roberts.

Within the global Internet Governance space, Mr. Olawale-Roberts is an ICANN Fellow and the first Nigerian to become a member of ICANN’s Nominating Committee, a team that recruits half of the ICANN Board asides other leadership roles. He has been a member of different working groups and committees that help shape the global Internet’s policy development process.

A Nigerian with a lifelong interest and involvement with the Internet, boasting of over 20 years of progressive, broad management experience in the Non-Governmental, Public and Private sectors asides global partnerships, he is a recipient of various awards, loves music and the game of golf.

To buttress the waves Mr. Olawale-Roberts is making on the international community and his contributions, as his tenor on the ICANN NOMCOM ended in October 2020, he was on the 12th November 2020 elected as the incoming Vice-Chair, Finance and Operations for Business Constituency, ICANN. He will start to function in this capacity from 1st January 2021. We can only wish him the best and pray God grants him the grace to excel in this new position.
