NiRA is at ongoing GITEX TECHNOLOGY WEEK, Dubai, United Arab Emirates promoting local content by advocating for the Nigerian online identity. GITEX is the largest technology exchange & marketplace event. With NITDA promoting indigenous tech innovations and seeking for investors, who will assist in supporting local development of Nigeria’s IT industry, NiRA is promoting the use of .ng domain names for Nigeria online presence. NiRA, as a Special Purpose Vehicle of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), is at the global technology event, further creating awareness of the .ng brand. NiRA is very visible at the Nigerian corner.
NiRA as the manager of the .ng ccTLD has a mandate to project and to promulgate the .ng domain name brand. This year’s participation, will mark the 4th year that NiRA has participated at the event, showcasing the .ng brand at global scene in Dubai. The use of the .ng domain name by Nigerian businesses and startups will further place Nigeria on the global map. This will provide Nigerian businesses the opportunity to appreciate the need to upload local content, local culture, global businesses, create employment and reduce capital flight. We must continue to emphasize that as more Nigerians are gainfully active online, the more we witness economic growth in our country.
