Dear Esteemed Members, Stakeholders, and Partners,
July has been an energizing month at the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), and this month reinforced our commitment to building an inclusive, secure, and future-ready internet ecosystem powered by the .ng domain.
One of the key highlights was the advancement of our .ng Academy initiatives, which continue to serve as an engine of impact across Nigeria’s digital space. From webinars focused on acquiring new technical skills to entrepreneurial opportunities like our .ng Reseller Training, NiRA remains dedicated to empowering individuals and small businesses alike with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital economy.
Among these initiatives, the .ng Webinar Series stood out as a significant milestone. This monthly conversation, themed “Nigeria First in the Digital Age: Why .ng Matters,” was not just a gathering of ideas; it was a national call to action.
In my address during the webinar, I emphasized a truth that lies at the core of our mission: the .ng domain has evolved immensely, in capacity, contribution to the digital economy, and its relevance to stakeholders. Yet, there remains urgent work ahead in accelerating adoption among the public and solidifying .ng as a symbol of national identity online.
We are repositioning .ng not merely as a domain extension, but as a strategic infrastructure, a foundational element in Nigeria’s digital growth. Our roadmap for this repositioning is built on three key pillars:
- Policy Alignment & Institutional Partnerships – Working closely with regulators, government agencies, and key players to ensure the .ng domain is central to Nigeria’s digital transformation goals.
- Ecosystem Expansion & Awareness – Ensuring .ng is visible, accessible, and clearly understood by the Nigerian people and businesses alike.
- Capacity Building & Local Hosting – Driving data localization and skill development to foster resilience, innovation, and data ownership within Nigeria.
It was a pleasure to have respected industry figures join the conversation, including Dr. Tope Fasua, former President & CEO of IXPN, Mr. Muhammed Rudman, and other strategic contributors who have long championed Nigeria’s internet development. Their insights reminded us of the importance of collaborative, cohesive partnerships, an approach that has become central to NiRA’s engagement strategy.
In this spirit of partnership, I am pleased to announce that NiRA will be participating in the upcoming Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) Conference, ConNovate 2025, from August 11–14 in Kano. We will be engaging in panel discussions and leading a dedicated workshop on .ng and Nigeria’s internet future. If you’ll be in Kano, we invite you to join us—let’s build forward together.
As always, I extend my gratitude to every stakeholder and partner committed to strengthening Nigeria’s digital identity. Let us continue to push boundaries, share knowledge, and place Nigeria first online and in action.
Thank you.
Adesola Akinsanya
