Nigeria Internet Registration Association Announces Nomination for the 8th Edition of the .ng Awards

The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), the managers of the .ng country code Top-Level Domain (ccTLD), has commenced nominations for the 8th edition of the .ng Awards, which will be celebrated alongside the 20th anniversary of the Association, marking two decades of stewardship and impact in Nigeria’s internet landscape.

The .ng Awards is an annual event that has recognized over 100 organizations and individuals who have leveraged the .ng domain to build and strengthen Nigeria’s internet ecosystem. This initiative reflects NiRA’s continued commitment to fostering growth and innovation within Nigeria’s digital space.

Nominations for the 8th .ng Awards will open from September 30th, 2025, to October 14th, 2025, across 19 categories. The Awards serve as a platform that not only recognizes excellence but also promotes the .ng brand, playing a significant role in advancing Nigeria’s online identity. NiRA President, Mr. Adesola Akinsanya, emphasized the importance of this year’s Awards in his official statement:

“For the 8th edition of the .ng Awards, we are building on the remarkable progress achieved last year, which saw a significant rise in new organizations and individuals adopting the .ng domain. This milestone underscores the growing trust and relevance of the .ng brand in driving Nigeria’s digital transformation.”

The .ng Awards feature two categories: the General Awards, comprising 19 categories open to public nominations, and the Presidential Awards, conferred by NiRA’s leadership and not open to public nominations.

The Chief Operating Officer of NiRA, Mrs. Oluwaseyi Onasanya, also noted, “This year’s celebration is particularly special, as we not only honor contributions to Nigeria’s internet space but also reflect on the tremendous growth of the .ng domain over the past 20 years. It’s a time to celebrate how far we’ve come and those who have made it possible.

Following the nomination phase, shortlisted nominees will be announced, after which the public will be invited to vote on the official .ng Awards website.

The .ng Awards embody NiRA’s broader mission to drive adoption and build the Nigerian digital identity.

The success of the 7th .ng Awards, which celebrated winners such as Sterling Bank, The Guardian, Galaxy Backbone, Wazobia Max, Lagos State Government, Jumia, National Identity Management Commission, and Nibox Payment (which won the Company of the Year award)—was a significant highlight of 2024 for both the .ng domain and Nigeria’s internet landscape.
