The in-person Accredited Registrars Forum serves as a platform for accredited registrars to engage directly with the registry on key issues, including concerns, successes, support needs, and strategies for strengthening collaboration to grow Nigeria’s DNS space.
The Registrars Forum is a bi-annual event, with the first session held virtually and the second conducted in person. This structure provides registrars with opportunities to be educated, empowered, and better positioned to succeed in supporting the Nigerian DNS ecosystem. The in-person forum brought together over 130 registrars, enabling deeper engagement, shared learning, and stronger partnerships.
The forum commenced with a welcome address by the Chief Operating Officer, Mrs. Oluwaseyi Onasanya, who welcomed accredited registrars and other participants. There was an update session led by the Registrar Relationship Manager, Ms. Bimbo Aderibigbe, who highlighted key registry engagement activities. These included registrar engagement sessions held across the northern region in Kano, Abuja, and Jos, as well as an engagement in Ibadan, aimed at strengthening registrar participation and collaboration nationwide.
A dedicated session featured the Director General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission, who engaged registrars on ensuring that activities within Nigeria’s internet space—particularly on the .ng domain—remain compliant with copyright laws and guidelines for both registrars and registrants.
The forum also included registry updates, during which NiRA shared information on innovations and improvements implemented to enhance collaboration, service delivery, and operational efficiency between the registry and accredited registrars.
