2016 NiRA Media College Report

The second edition of the .ng one day Media College organized by NiRA Academy held on Tuesday 21st June 2016 at the NiRA Academy and Resource Centre, NiRA Office Complex, Surulere, Lagos State. The event brought together stakeholders from the media industry, who were charged with the responsibility to enlighten the general public about the Domain Name industry and the .ng ccTLD.

Participants at the training were educated about the Internet Ecosystem with topics such as the “History of the Internet”, “The effect and opportunities in the DNS industry”, “A guide to choosing the right domain name”, “Internet Governance and the politics of the DNS Industry”. The discuss during the program were interactive and it was apparent there was the need for continuous engagement with the gentlemen of the Fourth Realm.

An offering given by the CEO, WhoGoHost, who facilitated one of the sessions, during the training program was a 50% (fifty percent) discount for the development and hosting of a blog for the media practitioners in attendance.  

The Dean of the Academy emphasized that Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) is willing to partner and collaborate with the media practitioners and advised the media practitioners to enlighten the public on the happenings in the DNS Industry as they have direct link with the public.

At the end of the program, certificates of participation were awarded to all participants of the 2016 .ng Media College.
