At the recently concluded 17th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA), held in Lagos, the NiRA Executive Board reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s internet ecosystem through strategic leadership and stakeholder engagement. As an election year, the AGM marked a new chapter with the emergence of new officers and members into its Executive Board of Directors.
This year’s elections brought a balance of continuity and fresh energy. Some familiar faces returned in new capacities, while new leaders were welcomed to the fold—each with a strong record of contribution to Nigeria’s internet and digital space.
New Officers: Existing Directors Elected for New Roles
Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata (CFA) – Financial Secretary
CFA is no stranger to NiRA’s Executive Board. Having previously served as Treasurer, he now steps into the role of Financial Secretary, continuing his deep-rooted involvement in Nigeria’s digital ecosystem. A respected tech voice in Africa, CFA is the Managing Director/CEO of the Anambra State ICT Agency, where he leads initiatives on digital transformation and innovation.
Beyond public service, CFA is also a co-founder of several tech-focused ventures including Optimus AI, Pacer Ventures, iDea Africa, and Creative Space. His work spans startup mentorship, innovation policy, and entrepreneurship advocacy, making his return to NiRA’s leadership an asset for the association’s strategic direction.
Destiny Amana – Treasurer
Destiny Amana has been a steadfast member of NiRA since 2007, serving on various committees and previously holding a seat on the Executive Board. With this election, he now assumes the role of Treasurer, a progression that reflects his long-standing commitment to the association’s vision and mission.
Destiny is the Managing Director/CEO of Icecool Contracts Limited, a pioneering NiRA registrar that has consistently topped the Gold Category rankings. He is also the current President of the Nigeria Internet Group, a body that has promoted internet growth in Nigeria since 1995. With a background in Engineering from Imperial College London and a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Bath, Destiny brings a rare blend of technical, financial, and strategic leadership to the board.
Newly-Elected Executive Board Members
Ahmad Mukoshy
Ahmad Mukoshy is a Nigerian entrepreneur, tech advocate, and the Founder/CEO of GigaLayer, a leading web hosting and domain registration company. With over a decade of experience in internet infrastructure, Ahmad has played a visible role in shaping Nigeria’s digital economy.
Under his leadership, GigaLayer was recognized by NiRA as “Best Startup Company in Nigeria” in 2019 and “Company of the Year” in 2020. He also serves on NiRA’s Technical Committee and CPN Accreditation Committee, where his insights help guide technical standards and policies. Ahmad is passionate about nurturing the next generation of tech leaders and regularly speaks at the NiRA Academy and other industry forums. He holds a B.Sc. in Physics from Usmanu Danfodiyo University and a Master’s in Information Technology from the University of Lagos.
Mary Omotola Olaseni
Mary Omotola Olaseni brings a dynamic blend of leadership, innovation, and operational excellence to the NiRA Board. She currently serves as General Manager at GO54 Limited (formerly Whogohost), Nigeria’s leading domain and hosting provider. Her journey with the company began in 2016 as an intern and receptionist. Through determination and strategic thinking, she rose through various key roles including Administrative Manager, Abuse and Compliance Manager, Executive Assistant to the CEO, and Chief of Staff to the Board Chairman. Today, she leads GO54’s operations across Nigeria and Africa, focusing on process efficiency, team performance, and customer satisfaction.
Omotola holds a B.Sc. in Business Administration from Bowen University, is pursuing an MBA at Babcock University, and is certified by Operations Nations. Her growing track record in Nigeria’s internet ecosystem positions her as a strong advocate for industry development and user experience.
Abibat Olatunji
Abibat Olatunji is a seasoned Legal Practitioner with over 15 years of experience in the ICT sector, particularly in areas that drive inclusion and local content. She is a passionate advocate for digital equity, championing the involvement of women, youth, and persons with disabilities in Nigeria’s digital landscape.
Abibat is a member of NiRA, the Internet Society Nigeria Chapter (ISOC NG), and the Association of Information Communication Technology Local Content (ICTLOCA). She is also Secretary of the Lagos Chapter of the Association of Orphans and Vulnerable Children NGOs in Nigeria (AONN) and Assistant Legal Adviser to Legacy 1995.
Founder of Society for Orphans Welfare (SOW) and CEO of Adehabb Resources Enterprises, Abibat’s work bridges law, social development, and technology. She holds degrees from the University of Ilorin and the University of Lagos, and is a member of the Nigerian Content Consultative Forum in ICT (NCCF-ICT).
The 17th AGM was more than just a meeting—it was a milestone. With the election of new officers and board members, NiRA has reinforced its vision of driving local internet growth through inclusive governance and digital innovation.
