On Tuesday, 7th November 2017, NiRA received a Special Recognition Award for Promoting the Nigeria Online Identity .ng at the Nigeria Tech Innovation & Telecom (NTITA) Awards 2017. Mr. Ikechukwu Nnamani, a member of the NiRA Executive Board of Directors, and the NiRA Chief Operating Officer, Mrs Edith Udeagu received the award on behalf of NiRA.
It was the maiden edition of the NTITA Awards organized by Association of Telecommunication Companies of Nigeria (ATCON). The occasion was to recognize and reward organizations and individuals at the forefront of innovation in the Technology & Telecom industry in Nigeria.
Other winners of awards at the event include VDT Communications Limited, Mobile Telecommunication Network (MTN), Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), Medallion Communication Limited, Galaxy Backbone Limited and Airtel. ICT personalities were not left out as Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta, the NCC Executive Vice Chairman/CEO: received the Technology Man of the Year award. Dr. Ernest Ndukwe, the former EVC of the NCC received the Life Time Achievement Award and the Managing Director / CEO Galaxy Backbone Yusuf Kazaure picked up the Public Sector Infrastructure Provider for the year award on behalf of Galaxy Backbone.
