NACOSS PAYS A COURTESY VISIT TO NIRA

The National Executives of the Nigerian Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS), led by the National President, Comrade Akintomiwa Abolade paid a courtesy visit NIRA on Wednesday 7th February 2018.

Comrade Abolade stated that the courtesy visit was to show their appreciation to NIRA and to present the new Executives, and outline the roadmap of the new Executives. He outlined key areas of focus as “The Female participation in ICT”, “Nigerian IT Talent Exhibition”, National Conference and Training of members all over the country.

In his response, the President of NIRA, Rev’d Sunday Folayan, extended a hand of partnership to NACOSS by requesting its participation in the NIRA Academy, which aims to:

  • Develop the Domain Name System (DNS) Industry locally and internationally through skill acquisition and capacity building
  • Breed local DNS Entrepreneurs
  • Provide in-depth training on subject related to Internet Governance and so on.

The President also informed the visiting NACOSS team that the NiRA Academy will henceforth support NACOSS with Training facilitators, in line with the objectives of the NiRA Academy.

NACOSS executives were also briefed on the .ngscout program, being put together by NiRA for the youths and how they can be part of the program.
