Help us grow the numbers of .ng Domain Names

Your Association (NIRA) was founded as a stakeholder led organization, and it has the responsibility of managing the .ng ccTLD, Nigeria’s country code Top Level Domain (ccTLD). NIRA is made up of several constituencies or stakeholders such as the Accredited Registrars, End-users, Academia, Civil Society Service Providers and Members, who all make up the NiRA General Assembly.

The stakeholders all collaborate, share their knowledge, discoveries, solutions and innovations that contribute to the growth of .ng brand, the Association and by extension, the country at large. In the same vein, collective efforts are geared by all towards growing the .ng brand. These efforts are all guided by the member-approved policies.

In the same vein, the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has promoted the switchto.gov.ng and also supported the switchto.ng activities. These projects were initiated to encourage Nigerian entities to own .ng domain names and actively use these names as their online identity. NITDA is actively working to further encourage local content and local hosting of the websites.

Small businesses are the bedrock of most economies, including that of Nigeria. Imagine the over 37 million Nigerian Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) being online with their own .ng domain names. As a first step, we need to stimulate and encourage the online presence of all the companies registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Companies will be able to register and protect their brand. There would be a huge transformation of the Nigerian economy and many more jobs will be created.

Join us, to push the message and grow the numbers within the corporate world in Nigeria.

I remain at your service.
