The year has been relatively good for NiRA and the .ng, Nigeria’s online identity on the cyberspace.
We have worked tirelessly to encourage the uptake of .ng domains, acceptability of the .ng online identity in Nigeria and continuous development of DNS industry in Nigeria.
NiRA has hosted several workshop programs (i.e. Resellers training twice this year, Web Designing training using WordPress and Media College event for the Press, etc.) through the NiRA Academy and the .ng Awards, all to promote awareness of the .ng brand. We also plan to host the .ng Bloggers Summit and the .ng Developers Summit before the end of this year. These initiatives are geared towards the development of the DNS Industry in Nigeria. NiRA has also participated actively in workshops hosted by other parties (NIGF, NCS, CPN, etc) to sensitize the public on the benefits and importance of .ng domain names.
NiRA would be represented at GITEX and eNigeria,all in the bid to encourage the uptake of the Nigerian online identity.
In all, we are very much aware that the growth in domain name registration is a collective responsibility that more Nigerians should support. The .ng domain name is our online national identity. We seek the support of the General Public to spread the good word about .ng. The Internet is a global village and .ng has a very important role to play.
