WHAT IS A PREMIUM DOMAIN NAME

Premium domain names are high-quality domains that have been pre-registered by the Registry but are available for registration by the registrant. The cost of registration is relatively higher than the cost of registering regular domain names. A domain is considered to be high quality if the name is considered to be of high value (shorter, regularly searched, closely associated to the actual service or industry). Such domains are easier to spell, easier to remember and more intuitive.

Domains are considered premium for a large number of reasons including length, keywords and brandability, budget, etc.

Why register a premium domain name?

It is all about first impressions. Premium domain names could present a business in the best possible light, giving the business an advantage on the competition simply by virtue of having a unique, memorable premium domain name.

What’s the Difference Between a Premium and Regular Domain?

The auction process provides an opportunity for prospective registrants to bid via their NiRA Accredited Registrars for premium domain names at bided rates. Its being an interesting experience for all.

To register a Premium Domain Name, either through a domain registrar or from domain marketplace, it is important for the prospective registrant to do a proper background check of the domain name to avoid loss of investment. The prospective registrant needs to make sure the name is not trademark and/or a tradename.

The idea of Premium domain names is one of the interesting innovations of the DNS industry. Those who register premium domain names consider if the cost of registration of the name fall within the budget. They also consider if an alternative name or alternative names can be utilized for their business. It is expected that the return on investment from using that premium (catchy name)  should cover the cost of registration of the premium domain name.
