7TH REGULAR MEETING OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON COMMUNICATIONS AND DIGITAL ECONOMY

The 7th Meeting of the National Council on Communications and Digital Economy (NCCDE-07) held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House Gombe State from 2nd to 6th December 2019. The Honourable Minister, Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, FNCS, FBCS, FIIM in his remarks, urged participants to key into the implementation of the Digital Economy Policy and Strategy to enhance adoption in all the states of the Federation.

The meeting with the theme “Leveraging the Gains of ICTs in Developing and Implementing a Digital Economy Strategy for Nigeria” was presided over by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr. M. F. Istifanus. In attendance at the meeting were members of the Council, members of the NiRA, Hon. Commissioners and representatives of State Governments, Chief Executives of Agencies and Parastatals, in-charge of ICT in Federal and State levels, NGOs, Members of the Organized Private Sector (OPS) and other Stakeholders.

At the meeting, about 89 memorandums were considered and recommendations were made to the Council. Three (3) of these memorandums were stepped down and asked to be represented at the next meeting. The considerations and recommendations made to the Council were the outcomes from the 4 syndicate groups constituted to look into the viability of the memorandums. NiRA, under the guidance of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), had also made some presentations.

The syndicate groups comprised of Policy, Legal and Regulation Framework; Infrastructure; E-Government and Capacity Building.
