It was an eventful day for the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) and its stakeholders on Friday, 29th April 2022, as it hosted the 2022 .ng Awards at Nelo’s Place Event Center, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria.
The 2022 .ng Awards, the fifth edition, spotlighted Nigerian businesses and individuals who are making the Internet a more open and secure place for all. The awards were open to any organisation or persons using the .ng as their domain name with credible online activities.
The shortlisted nominees for the awards were a total of ninety-four for the 18 categories in the general awards, 23,471 votes were casted to choose the winners in each category.
Recipients who were winners of the .ng 2022 awards in the various categories included GigaLayer Web Hosting & Domains, Smart Web Nigeria Limited, Covenant University, ALAT- Wema Bank Plc, National Youth Service Corps, Colab, and others. There were also fourteen recipients of the presidential awards in the different presidential award categories.
As part of the 10th Anniversary celebration of NiRA in 2016, the pioneer .ng Awards were introduced. The goal is to recognise and honour contributions by individuals and organisations that promot the use of Nigerian domains (.ng) as well as increase awareness of the brand.
