NiRA Sponsors NACOS Convention as It Celebrates 30 Years

The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) proudly sponsored the NACOS Convention, marking NACOS’s 30 years of impactful contributions to the tech and education sectors. This long-standing collaboration highlights the vital role NACOS plays in shaping the future of computing students in tertiary institutions, with NiRA’s support reinforcing this commitment.

NiRA’s representative; Mr. Shehu Mohammed- Network and Infrastructure Officer, during the convention, provided valuable insights into the association’s role in Nigeria’s internet ecosystem. He highlighted the pivotal role of the .ng domain in supporting the country’s digital infrastructure and advancing its online presence. Additionally, he emphasized NiRA’s efforts through the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation and the .ng Academy showcasing contributions to child online protection and the promotion of essential digital skills across Nigeria.

NiRA’s engagement with students was a key focus of the event. The association stressed that students have the potential to be more than just users of the .ng domain; they can also become ambassadors for the brand within their communities. By fostering a deeper understanding of the .ng domain, students can leverage it for various purposes, including registering domains for academic projects, personal portfolios, and future business ventures. This approach aims to enhance awareness and adoption of the .ng domain among the younger generation.

In recognition of its significant contributions, NiRA was honoured with the National Recognition Award. This accolade celebrates NiRA’s dedicated efforts in advancing Nigeria’s digital landscape and strengthening its internet infrastructure. The award underscores NiRA’s ongoing commitment to supporting and promoting digital growth in Nigeria.
