The year is rapidly drawing to a close as we enter the final month of Q3 and prepare the ground for a spectacular year end. We are working as we have consistently done for years to amplify our objective of making the .ng domain brand a household name in the Domain Name Industry. We doubled down on our educational and promotional efforts, collaborating with agencies and relevant businesses across our industry to organise events and outreaches that create awareness and increase the adoption of the .ng domain brand. Through NiRA Academy, we have organised initiatives aimed at helping businesses in Nigeria to better understand the regulatory contexts and how they can leverage cyberspace to position their businesses for sustainable success. One of such initiatives was the implications of the Company and Allied Matters Act (CAMA 2020) on businesses webinars we hosted in partnership with law firms in Nigeria.

A major highlight for us was the successful hosting of our 2021 .ng Reseller Entrepreneurship Programme (REP) to empower businesses and individuals to take advantage of the vast opportunities in the domain name industry. We have a goal to spread the benefits of adopting Nigeria’s country code Top Level Domain extension, and we routinely encourage businesses and individuals to leverage opportunities in the burgeoning internet economy of Nigeria by empowering them with the skills and platform they need to succeed through the Reseller Entrepreneurship Programme. Likewise, we conducted a Web Host Manager Complete Solution (WHMCS) training for our Accredited Registrars at no cost through NiRA Academy in collaboration with industry experts. The training was provided to empower the newly engaged technical staff of our accredited registrars to empower them. We will continue to support our Accredited Registrars to achieve their business goals.

For the Quarter ahead, our focus remains consistent with the goal of the association to create awareness and increase adoption of the .ng domain extension. We launched the 2nd .NG Promo beginning from October 1st to December 31st 2021 to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Day celebration. The aim is to expand access to the .ng domain extension and increase its adoption by lowering the barrier of entry for businesses in Nigeria seeking to grow their business online. We can call on partners to increase their efforts and make the .ng domain identity attractive enough for individuals and businesses to patronise. From our end, we are investing time and resources to build a robust and formidable domain name that can support the goal of Nigerian entrepreneurs and fuel the aspirations of its young population. We are grateful for the unending support of our parent company, NITDA, which has allowed us to move at this pace and achieve a lot of our goals.  Our goal remains to build Nigeria and Africa’s foremost country code Top Level Domain extension, and we will leave no stone unturned in our efforts to achieve this.

Thank you all and till we see again, please watch your health and keep safe.

Kind regards,

Muhammed Rudman

President, NiRA
