PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Muhammed Rudman

We are excited to share the NiRA e-Newsletter with our readers in this new year. I trust that your year has started with a bang and that your goals and aspirations are already on the front burner for achievement. We wish you a most productive year.
The year has started well for us at the .ng registry. NiRA was recognised for its contributions to the growth of the internet with an award from the National Association of Computing Students (NACOS). This was presented during the Association’s National Women Conference in Ota, Ogun State. NiRA has consistently supported initiatives which promote safe and secure internet use among the youth. This is a key focus of the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation, one of NiRA’s Special Purpose Vehicles. We are grateful for the recognition.
There are many exciting events ahead and we cannot wait to engage with you here and on all our Social Media platforms, to keep you up to date. This year, NiRA will intensify her partnerships with government and non-governmental organisations to promote the use of the .ng TLD. We hope to offer free domains to newly registered businesses, and collaborate with professional associations, to get their members on board with .ng domains. We will lean on the direction of the Board and the Secretariat’s implementation as well as the strong contributions of NiRA Accredited Registrars to make these and other initiatives a reality. We are also glad for the support of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) as we continue to contribute our quota.
While we prepare for Nigeria’s general elections, I urge everyone to remain patriotic. We must shun violence, abstain from hate speech, and play our role in ensuring a smooth transition. We continue to look towards the peace of our nation and all the nations of the world.
Do stay safe and well.
Muhammed Rudman
President
