THE NIGERIA e-GOVERNMENT SUMMIT 2022

The 2022 edition of the Nigeria eGovernment Summit organised by DigiServe Network Services, held at the Sheraton Hotel, Lagos on the 27th of September 2022.  This year’s summit with the theme: “Promoting eGovernment in Election Year for Improved Governance” was designed to emphasise the adoption of technology in government processes and service delivery. The need to call for this adoption is critical for the forthcoming 2023 general elections and the prosperity of future generations.

In his opening statement, the Executive Chairman, DigiServe Network Services, Engr Lanre Ajayi, said, “The election year, which is the time when a lot of attention is paid to governance issues, is a perfect time to promote eGovernment to the ruling class and the public”. The Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), and Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), were in partnership with DigiServe Network Services for its 4th annual summit. The discourse on “International Best Practices in eGovernment” for the second-panel session was chaired by Mr. Muhammed Rudman, President, of Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA). NiRA’s Vice President and Chief Executive Officer at Whogohost, Mr. Toba Obaniyi, in another panel session, discussed “Positioning Telecoms Infrastructure for eGovernment Deployment”.

NiRA acknowledges that the increased adoption of digital technology especially in the coming year will lead to improved governance, which will in turn improve the lives of the people. Mrs. Chioma Keke, Head of Business Development (NiRA), and Mr. Emmanuel Olu-Festus, Legal Officer (NiRA), were other key representatives of the Registry at the 2022 Summit.
