Welcome Speech by Adesola Akinsanya, the Newly Elected President of NiRA

I am delighted to address you for the first time in this capacity as the President of NiRA- this edition will be the first of the many presidential speeches I will present. I am enthusiastic and committed to the journey ahead.

Having been part of the NiRA EBoD, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible dedication and talents within our community. It is with great pleasure that I embark on this journey with the team, I know that we have a strong foundation to build on to strengthen the brand promise.

I want to emphasize the importance of a winning formula that I believe will lay the foundation for our success. This formula comprises people, processes, performance, and accountability.

I recognize that people are the foundation of any successful organization. It is imperative that we continually attract and retain the right individuals who share our vision and values. With the right people in place, we can build a strong and dynamic team that will drive NiRA forward. I am dedicated to ensuring that we have the most talented and motivated individuals who will propel us towards our goals.

Equally important is the development of efficient and effective processes. By establishing the right processes, we can optimize our operations, enhance productivity, and achieve our organizational goals. These processes will serve as the catalyst that propels both our people and NiRA towards success. I am committed to implementing and refining processes that align with our strategic objectives and promote continuous improvement.

In setting high-performance expectations, we challenge ourselves to reach new heights. As the President, I will demand excellence from our team by leading as an example and providing the necessary support to help them meet and exceed these expectations. We will celebrate our achievements and recognize the contributions of our members who consistently deliver outstanding results. At the same time, we must hold ourselves accountable for our performance. By clearly defining expectations and acknowledging both the positive and negative consequences, we create a culture of responsibility and drive a culture of excellence.

As we embark on this journey of growth and improvement, I want to highlight some key areas that I am committed to working on you can find the full list in my manifesto.

Firstly, we will prioritize the improvement of the Registrar-Registry relationship. I firmly believe that by strengthening this partnership, we can create a win-win situation for both parties. Through enhanced collaboration, open communication, and better incentives for Registrars, we will foster a stronger bond that leads to the growth and prosperity of NiRA as a whole.

Secondly, we will expand NiRA’s outreach by engaging with local and international industry players. It is essential that we actively collaborate with ecosystem partners, industry experts, and government and regulatory bodies. By forging strong alliances and fostering meaningful relationships, we can facilitate policy development and promote the wider adoption of the .ng domains. Together, we will raise the profile of NiRA and solidify our position as a leading player in the digital landscape.

Furthermore, capacity building is of utmost importance to me. I recognize the significance of empowering our members, non-members, and Registrars with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in the ever-evolving domain industry. To that end, I will fully leverage the NiRA Academy and the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation, our Special Purpose Vehicles, to provide comprehensive training and development opportunities.

In addition, you can find highlights of the NiRA 15th AGM on our social media platforms and learn more about the incoming Executive Board of Directors (EBoD) and Board of Trustees (BoT)

In conclusion, I am honoured to be entrusted with the responsibility of leading NiRA during this pivotal time. With a focus on strengthening the Registrar-Registry relationship, expanding our outreach, and enhancing capacity building, I am confident that we will propel NiRA to unprecedented success.

Thank you, and I look forward to the exciting times ahead, sharing my thoughts and the progress of NiRA with everyone.
